Privacy policy
Trustycar · effective 17 October 2026
Your car log stays on your phone. There is no account and no server. The app sends only anonymous usage statistics, and you can turn them off.
Who we are
Trustycar is made by an independent developer (“we”), named as the seller on the App Store and as the developer on Google Play. We are responsible for the data described here. Questions: ostrikov.s.b@gmail.com.
What stays on your phone
Your vehicles, fill-ups, charges, services, expenses, reminders, notes, places, VINs, photos and settings are stored only on your phone. We have no access to them.
- They leave the phone only when you export a file (PDF, CSV or JSON) or share a photo, and only to where you send it.
- The app has no cloud backup, and Android’s automatic backup is turned off for it.
- Service reminders are notifications your phone creates by itself; nothing is sent to a push service.
- The camera and photos are used only to attach pictures you choose.
Anonymous statistics
To find errors and see which features are used, the app sends anonymous usage statistics to PostHog, an analytics service with servers in the EU.
- What is sent: what happens in the app (for example “an entry was added”, “a file was exported”), technical errors, the phone model, system version, app version, language and time zone.
- What is never sent: your name, vehicle names, notes, places, VINs, amounts, mileage, dates of entries, file names or any text you type.
- The only identifier is a random number created by the app. It is not linked to you, your phone’s advertising ID or other apps.
- PostHog uses your IP address to tell the country and then discards it; the IP address is not stored.
- How to turn it off: Settings → About → Anonymous statistics. From then on nothing is sent.
We use these statistics on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). PostHog processes them on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
Purchases
Trustycar Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment under their own privacy policies. We receive no payment details and do not learn who you are; the purchase is checked on your phone.
What we don’t do
- No account, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No ads and no tracking across apps or websites.
- We don’t sell or share your data. Apart from PostHog there are no third-party services in the app.
- This website uses no cookies and no analytics.
Deleting your data
You can delete entries and vehicles in the app. Deleting the app deletes all its data from the phone. Statistics already sent cannot be linked to you, so we cannot find or delete them individually; they are deleted automatically after a limited retention period.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Almost all your data is on your phone under your control, and you can export it at any time. For anything else, write to us. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
The app is not meant for children under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the app starts sending different data, we will say so here first.
